Cronopios foundation

Cronopios often make ordinary life more complicated because they respond through wonder, feeling and imagination rather than efficiency or convention.

Volvé, Cortázar, ¿qué te cuesta?

“She would smile and show no surprise, convinced as she was, the same as I, that casual meetings are apt to be just the opposite, and that people who make dates are the same kind who need lines on their writing paper, or who always squeeze up from the bottom on a tube of toothpaste.”
― Julio Cortazar, Hopscotch

What we do

We design playful, experimental, and socially engaged projects across:Art and creative practice
Workshops, exhibitions, publications, performances, zines, public interventions, and beautiful accidents.
Mental health and wellbeing
Creative approaches to reflection, emotional expression, connection, and care.
Education and play
Learning that moves, questions, invents, interrupts, and occasionally draws outside the page.
Inclusion and community
Projects shaped with children, young people, families, artists, educators, researchers, and people whose voices are too often left outside the room.
Research and experimentation
Serious inquiry without the stiff collar. We test ideas, document what happens, and turn knowledge into something people can actually use.

We make room for the beautifully unruly.

Cronopios Foundation is a home for ideas that arrive sideways. We work where art, education, mental health, research, play, and community keep bumping into one another. We are interested in the things that do not fit neatly into boxes: strange questions, unfinished thoughts, loud colors, quiet rebellions, children who invent their own rules, adults who have forgotten how to play, and communities building new ways to care.Inspired by Julio Cortázar’s cronopios [imaginative, tender, disobedient creatures living slightly outside the ordinary] we create projects for people who feel too curious, too sensitive, too unusual, or simply too alive for the usual script.

our philosophy

We believe a straight line is only one way to get somewhere.Sometimes you have to hop.
Sometimes you have to skip a square.
Sometimes you land on one foot, lose your balance, and discover a completely different game.
We believe care can be creative.
Research can be playful.
Art can be useful without becoming obedient.
And difference is not a problem waiting to be corrected.

our manifesto

We choose curiosity over certainty.
Participation over performance.
Mess over perfection.
Questions over polished answers.
Imagination over “that is how it has always been done.”
We make space for the odd, the tender, the unfinished, the rebellious, and the impossible-looking.We take play seriously.

Who is a cronopio?

A cronopio is not a type of person. It is the part of us that refuses to become entirely predictable. The part that notices the crack in the pavement, invents a country inside it, and invites everyone else to visit.

Come playBring your strange idea.Bring your notebook, your research question, your unfinished poem, your impossible project, your community, your scissors, your doubts. The square is open. The chalk is in your hand.Jump.
